The coolest-climate classics: Riesling of unmatched precision.

Wine history

Romans planted along the Rhine and Mosel in the first century. Monasteries at Kloster Eberbach refined the craft, and by the nineteenth century Rhine wines commanded prices above first-growth Bordeaux. After a period of sweet bulk wine, Germany's growers returned to dry, site-driven bottlings and the VDP classification.
