Wine history
Tokaji was classified in 1737, decades before Bordeaux, and was the wine of European courts — Louis XIV called it the wine of kings. Four decades of communist state production nearly erased that legacy; foreign and local investment from 1990 restored Tokaj, and dry Furmint has since become a category of its own.
